The intended effect of doping is mainly to enhance performance or speed up recovery during training.<\/p><p>Performance-enhancing substances have been around since ancient times (e.g. gladiators used a mixture of honey and alcohol). It has been intensively pursued in top-level sporting competitions since the last quarter of the 20th century and is regularly the cause of many scandals.<\/p><p>Because of possible doping, top athletes are required to submit urine samples for analysis immediately after competitions; a positive test result usually leads to the athlete&rsquo;s disqualification from competition and the withdrawal of medals and other awards.<\/p><p>Doping substances and methods (International Olympic Committee and Medical Commission)<\/p><h3>Administration of substances belonging to prohibited groups:<\/h3><ul>\n<li>stimulants<\/li>\n<li>narcotics<\/li>\n<li>anabolic steroids<\/li>\n<li>substances with anti-estrogenic activity<\/li>\n<li>diuretics<\/li>\n<li>peptides and glycoprotein hormones<\/li>\n<li>the use of other doping methods:<\/li>\n<li>blood doping<\/li>\n<li>pharmacological, chemical and physical manipulations<\/li>\n<li>Substances and groups of substances subject to certain restrictions are also defined (alcohol, cannabinoids, local anaesthetics, corticosteroids and beta-blockers).<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>It is possible to treat an illness with drugs that contain doping substances, but the athlete may not start training or even enter a competition until the substance has disappeared from the body.<\/p><p>For anabolic steroids, hormones and diuretics, their use can be controlled by the Doping Commissioner throughout the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Doping in sport refers to the use of substances and methods listed on the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":12100,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[468],"tags":[463,469],"class_list":["post-12099","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-doping","tag-bodybuilding","tag-doping"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/bigman.to\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/12099","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/bigman.to\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/bigman.to\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/bigman.to\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/5"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/bigman.to\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=12099"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/bigman.to\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/12099\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/bigman.to\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/12100"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/bigman.to\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=12099"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/bigman.to\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=12099"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/bigman.to\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=12099"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
