Estrogen Control
Estrogen Control includes medicines used to influence estrogen levels or estrogen receptor activity. In bodybuilding, estrogen management is commonly discussed during anabolic steroid use, particularly because certain steroids can convert into estrogen. Excessive estrogen activity may contribute to unwanted effects such as water retention and gynecomastia (development of breast tissue in men). However, estrogen also plays an important role in male hormonal health, so the goal is not to eliminate it completely.
The category includes aromatase inhibitors such as Anastrozole, Letrozole and Exemestane, which reduce estrogen production by blocking the aromatase enzyme. It also includes selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) such as Tamoxifen and Raloxifene, which block or modify estrogen activity in specific tissues without directly reducing estrogen production. These compounds work differently and are not interchangeable.
