CREA TU PROPIO CICLO

Creating a bodybuilding cycle is not simply a matter of choosing a few popular steroids and putting them together. If you want to understand why certain compounds are commonly associated with mass, cutting, strength or a particular look, you first need to understand what you are actually trying to achieve.

A good starting point is therefore not the steroid itself, but the goal. Your current body composition, training experience, nutrition, previous exposure, individual response and tolerance of side effects all matter.

Start with the goal, not the compound. A cycle intended to maximize scale weight is fundamentally different from one intended to maintain muscle while getting leaner. The same compound can also behave very differently depending on the rest of the setup.

1. Define exactly what you want from the cycle

Before looking at individual steroids, define the result you are actually trying to achieve. "I want to grow" is not specific enough.

Mass

The priority is increasing body weight and building as much new muscle as possible, with less emphasis on staying extremely lean.

Lean mass

The objective is to add muscle while keeping unnecessary fat and excessive changes in body weight under control.

Cutting

The main objective is reducing body fat while retaining as much muscle, strength and training performance as possible.

Strength

The emphasis is on performance and strength rather than simply chasing the largest possible increase on the scale.

Once the goal is clear, you can begin comparing compounds according to their general characteristics rather than simply choosing whatever is currently most popular.

2. Understand the basic characteristics of each compound

You do not need to memorize every steroid ever produced. You do, however, need to understand the basic characteristics of the compounds you are considering.

Estrogenic activity

Some compounds can aromatize and increase estrogenic activity, while others have little or no aromatization.

Androgenic activity

Compounds differ in their androgenic characteristics, which can be relevant to effects such as skin, hair, libido and other androgen- related changes.

Anabolic activity

Different compounds are commonly associated with different levels and patterns of anabolic activity.

Duración de la acción

Ester length and formulation influence how long an injectable compound remains active and how quickly its effects change after administration stops.

Liver impact

Oral anabolic steroids are not all identical, and some place greater demands on the liver than others.

Effect on health markers

Compounds can differ in their effects on cholesterol, blood pressure, red blood cell count, liver markers and other health parameters.

3. Know the main compounds used in bodybuilding

The following compounds are among those commonly discussed in bodybuilding. Their inclusion here is intended to explain their general characteristics, not to suggest that any particular compound is appropriate for every athlete.

Testosterona Commonly used as a foundational anabolic-androgenic compound. Different esters, including enanthate, cypionate and propionate, differ primarily in their duration of action and pharmacokinetic profile.
Nandrolona Commonly associated with mass-oriented bodybuilding approaches. Decanoate is a long-acting ester and produces a substantially different time profile from short-acting compounds.
Boldenona Commonly associated with gradual lean-mass development and appetite increases. It can also affect red blood cell production.
Metandienona An oral compound historically associated with rapid increases in body weight, strength and fullness. Some of the early visual weight gain can also involve water retention.
Estanozolol Commonly associated with a harder appearance and strength. It is a non-aromatizing compound and is also relevant to liver and lipid considerations.
Oximetolona A powerful oral anabolic steroid commonly associated with rapid increases in body weight and strength. Water retention and effects on health markers are important considerations.
Oxandrolona Often associated with strength and leaner-looking physique goals. It does not aromatize, but it can still negatively affect cholesterol and other health markers.
Trenbolona A highly potent anabolic-androgenic compound commonly associated with strength, muscle retention and significant changes in body composition. It is also known for a demanding side-effect profile.
Metenolona Commonly associated with lean-mass development and a relatively lower tendency toward water retention. It is often discussed in longer-term bodybuilding approaches because of its ester-dependent duration.

4. Understand the role of supporting compounds

Bodybuilders often use the term "ancillaries" for substances intended to address estrogen-related effects, androgen-related effects, fertility or hormone recovery. These should not be viewed as automatic accessories that make a cycle safe.

Tamoxifeno

A selective estrogen receptor modulator commonly discussed in bodybuilding in connection with estrogen-related issues and post-cycle recovery.

Anastrozole

An aromatase inhibitor that reduces conversion of androgens into estrogen. Excessive suppression of estrogen can also create problems.

Clomifeno

Another selective estrogen receptor modulator frequently discussed in relation to recovery of the body's hormone signalling after suppression.

Human chorionic gonadotropin

A hormone that can mimic luteinizing hormone activity and is sometimes used in bodybuilding discussions concerning testicular function and fertility.

Proviron

An androgenic steroid that is often treated as an ancillary in bodybuilding discussions because of its perceived effects on hardness, libido and androgenic balance.

Finasteride

A medication that affects conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone and is sometimes discussed in relation to androgen-related hair effects.

Important: Supporting compounds are not a universal safety net. Using an aromatase inhibitor, selective estrogen receptor modulator or another ancillary simply because it is included in somebody else's cycle can create its own problems.

5. Match the compound profile to the bodybuilding goal

Instead of thinking in terms of "best steroid", it is more useful to think in terms of which characteristics are normally associated with a particular bodybuilding objective.

Mass-oriented compounds

Testosterone, nandrolone, methandienone and oxymetholone are commonly associated with increases in body weight, fullness and mass.

Strength-oriented compounds

Testosterone, oxymetholone, methandienone, trenbolone and oxandrolone are commonly associated with increases in strength and performance.

Lean-physique compounds

Methenolone, oxandrolone and stanozolol are commonly associated with leaner-looking physiques and lower water retention.

Non-aromatizing compounds

Oxandrolone, stanozolol, methenolone and trenbolone do not aromatize into estrogen in the same way as testosterone-type compounds.

Remember the difference between appearance and fat loss. A compound that produces a harder or drier appearance is not necessarily burning large amounts of body fat. Actual fat loss is primarily determined by energy balance, diet, activity and consistency.

6. Mass cycles

A mass-focused bodybuilding cycle is built around the objective of gaining as much useful size as possible. The mistake is assuming that maximum scale weight automatically equals maximum muscle gain.

During a mass phase, increased glycogen, water and body fat can all contribute to changes on the scale. That does not mean that every kilogram gained represents new muscle tissue.

Formación

Progressive resistance training remains the primary stimulus for muscle growth.

Nutrition

Adequate calories and protein are necessary, but an excessively large surplus can simply make the eventual cutting phase harder.

Compound selection

Mass-oriented compounds are generally chosen for their ability to support increases in muscle size, strength and training capacity.

Track real progress

Body weight, measurements, strength and progress photographs provide a much better picture than the scale alone.

Do not confuse water weight with muscle. Some compounds can produce rapid increases in body weight and fullness. These changes can look impressive while representing more than just new contractile muscle tissue.

7. Cutting cycles

Cutting is often misunderstood. Anabolic steroids do not magically remove body fat. The foundation of a successful cut remains a controlled calorie deficit, appropriate nutrition, training and sufficient activity.

In bodybuilding, the role of anabolic compounds during a cut is generally discussed more in terms of preserving muscle and training performance while body fat is being reduced.

Preserve muscle

Resistance training and adequate protein remain central to maintaining lean mass during a calorie deficit.

Control the deficit

An unnecessarily aggressive deficit can make training, recovery and muscle retention more difficult.

Appearance matters

Water retention can influence how lean a physique appears even when actual body fat has not changed.

Do not confuse hardness with fat burning

A harder visual appearance does not necessarily mean that a compound has a meaningful direct fat-burning effect.

8. Short-acting vs. long-acting compounds

Ester selection is an important part of understanding injectable steroids. Short- and long-acting versions can contain the same base hormone while producing very different time profiles.

Short-acting

Compounds with shorter esters generally enter and leave the system more quickly. Changes in exposure therefore tend to appear sooner.

Long-acting

Longer esters release the active hormone more gradually and remain in the body for longer after the last administration.

Why this matters

The ester affects how quickly concentrations change, how long effects can persist and how long it can take for exposure to decline after stopping.

Don't compare esters by name alone

The same base hormone can behave very differently depending on its ester and formulation.

Think about timing. When combining compounds with very different durations of action, it is important to understand that they will not necessarily rise and fall in the body at the same rate.

9. Keep the stack logical

The concept of a "stack" comes from combining compounds with different characteristics in an attempt to create a complementary overall effect.

In theory, this can make sense from a bodybuilding perspective. In practice, however, adding more compounds also makes the system more complicated and makes it harder to determine which substance is responsible for a particular benefit or side effect.

Have a reason for each compound

Every addition should have a clear purpose rather than being included simply because it is popular.

Avoid unnecessary overlap

Multiple compounds can share similar effects and unwanted effects. More compounds do not automatically mean a better stack.

Know what changed

The more variables you change at once, the harder it becomes to identify the cause of a result.

Consider the total burden

A stack should be evaluated as a whole, including its combined impact on cardiovascular, hormonal, liver and other health markers.

10. Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) and hormonal recovery

One of the most important things to understand before considering a cycle is what happens after the last compound is used.

Anabolic steroids can suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis, commonly referred to as the HPTA. In practical bodybuilding terms, this means that the body's own testosterone production can be significantly reduced during and after steroid use.

Recovery is not identical for everyone. The degree and duration of suppression can depend on the compounds involved, total exposure, duration of use and individual factors.

Estrogen management

Estrogen is an important hormone and should not simply be driven as low as possible. Both excessive estrogen and excessive estrogen suppression can create problems.

HPTA recovery

Recovery means restoring the body's own hormonal signalling rather than simply making symptoms disappear.

Fertility

Testosterone production and sperm production are related but are not exactly the same process. Fertility can remain affected even when some other symptoms have improved.

Time matters

Long-acting compounds can remain active well after the final administration, so recovery cannot always be considered immediately after the last injection.

There is no universal PCT protocol. Fixed internet schedules that prescribe the same drugs, amounts and timing for every person should not be treated as a universal recovery formula. Hormonal recovery is individual, and appropriate assessment can require laboratory testing and professional medical guidance.

11. Blood work should be part of the plan

A cycle should not be judged only by muscle growth, body weight or gym performance. Some of the most important changes happen without any obvious symptoms.

For a serious bodybuilder, monitoring health markers is therefore just as important as tracking training numbers.

  • Blood pressure.
  • Complete blood count and red blood cell-related markers.
  • Cholesterol and other lipid markers.
  • Liver-related markers.
  • Kidney-related markers.
  • Hormonal markers where appropriate.
Track trends, not isolated numbers. One result tells you what was happening at one point in time. Comparing results over time can provide a much more useful picture of how your body is responding.

12. The cycle is only one part of the equation

Even the most carefully considered bodybuilding approach cannot overcome poor fundamentals.

Formación

Progressive overload, sufficient volume and good technique provide the stimulus for muscle growth.

Nutrition

Calories, protein, carbohydrates, fats and overall food quality all influence body composition and performance.

Sleep

Poor sleep can negatively affect recovery, performance, appetite and overall wellbeing.

Consistency

A good plan followed consistently will usually outperform a complicated plan that is constantly changed.

Before building your cycle

Before putting individual compounds together, make sure you can answer the following questions clearly:

  • What is the exact goal of this phase?
  • What is my current body composition and training level?
  • Do I understand the characteristics of every compound I am considering?
  • Do I understand which compounds have longer or shorter durations of action?
  • Do I understand the potential effect on estrogen, cholesterol, blood pressure and natural hormone production?
  • Is every compound serving a specific purpose?
  • Am I changing too many variables at once?
  • Have I considered what happens after the cycle ends?
  • Am I monitoring my health rather than judging the cycle only by appearance and gym performance?
The Bottom Line

There is no single "perfect cycle" that works for every bodybuilder. The right way to think about cycle design is to start with the goal and then understand how the characteristics of different compounds fit—or do not fit—that objective.

Mass, strength and cutting phases require different priorities. Ester length affects timing. Different compounds have different anabolic, androgenic, estrogenic and health-related profiles. Stacking can create complementary effects, but it can also increase complexity and make side effects harder to identify.

Most importantly, a bodybuilding cycle does not exist separately from training, nutrition, recovery and health monitoring. The best-informed approach is to understand the compounds, understand your objective, monitor how your body responds and avoid adding complexity simply because more compounds appear to promise better results.
