Cardarine (GW-501516)
Cardarine (GW-501516) is a synthetic PPARδ (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor delta) agonist associated with fat metabolism, endurance and energy regulation. Although commonly grouped with SARMs, Cardarine does not act on androgen receptors and is not a true SARM. In bodybuilding, it is primarily associated with cutting phases, improved exercise endurance and maintaining physical performance during calorie-restricted periods.
Cardarine activates PPARδ signalling, which regulates genes involved in fatty acid oxidation and energy metabolism. Its intended effects include increased utilisation of fatty acids for energy, improved metabolic efficiency and enhanced endurance capacity. The related compound GW-0742 also activates PPARδ and is associated with similar metabolic pathways, although it has a different chemical structure and pharmacological profile. Both compounds target metabolic regulation rather than directly stimulating muscle growth through androgen receptors.
