SARMs

SARMs (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators) are compounds associated with muscle development, strength, lean muscle mass and body composition. In bodybuilding, they are primarily discussed in connection with bulking, cutting and muscle preservation. This category also includes several non-SARM compounds that target metabolic or growth hormone pathways through different mechanisms.

Ostarine (MK-2866) is associated with maintaining lean muscle mass, particularly during cutting phases, while Ligandrol (LGD-4033) en Testolone (RAD-140) are associated with muscle growth and strength development. Andarine (S4) is commonly discussed in relation to lean muscle preservation and body composition, while S23 is associated with strong androgen receptor activity. YK-11 is associated with androgen receptor signalling and potential effects on muscle growth.

Other compounds in this category include Cardarine (GW-501516), a PPARδ agonist associated with fat metabolism and endurance, and Stenabolic (SR9009), a REV-ERB agonist associated with energy metabolism and circadian regulation. Ibutamoren (MK-677) stimulates growth hormone and IGF-1 signalling through the ghrelin receptor and is associated with recovery, appetite and muscle development. These three compounds are not SARMs in the strict pharmacological sense.
